The kidnap of London gangster, Benny Lyle and a series of violent, racial attacks in Norwich seem bound to draw Theo Stern in opposite directions. But when Stern exposes a dark, sinister method to the attacks and Lyle is sighted in Norfolk, he realizes that neither case is as it first seemed. When further investigations reveal that the two cases are inextricably linked in the most macabre way, Stern’s belief in the rule of law is tested to the extreme.
